Volkswagen and Skoda have found some direction with the India 2.0 Project. Both brands have launched sister cars like the Virtus/Slavia and Taigun/Kushaq. Skoda has revealed its entire compact SUV plan and the plans to launch the SUV by March 2025. The SUV will be sharing all the parts with bigger Kushaq ranging from platform to features. However, for now, only Skoda has committed to this project. So for the foreseeable future, we will not see a Volkswagen alternative to this car. But, if the Skoda version garners a good response, Volkswagen could take a U-Turn, as it would not be that hard for Volkswagen to bring its version of the compact SUV.

EV Plan

Volkswagen is rather focusing on the EV market as it wants to join the race early to stamp its authority. For this, it is keen on partnering with another automaker in India. Earlier it was reported that the brand has started work on localising its electric vehicle project which has been codenamed “Peak EV”. Currently, this project is being headed by Skoda Auto Volkswagen India and the company plans to spawn multiple electric vehicles starting in 2026.

Along with new products, Volkswagen is also planning to bring updates to existing cars like the Taigun and Virtus. We could see some sort of a minor facelift on both the cars.
