Design changes

Volkswagen Taigun facelift

Globally, Volkswagen sells the Taigun as T-Cross. Last year, it updated the T-Cross with a new design. In this, we have a new DRL design that cuts from the bottom and extends into a single chrome element cutting the grille in half. The headlamps get a smoked look, and the bumpers get clean slated fog lamps. Also, the air dams have a clean and neat design. The side profile is more or less similar to the existing model. Coming to the rear, we have a new tail lamp design with x-shaped graphics on it. We also have a new alloy wheel design.

The T-Cross facelift comes with a redesigned front centre console housing the floating infotainment system. Other new features on the facelift include a digital instrument cluster, touch-based climate controls and a 3-spoke steering wheel. Hopefully, for India, Volkswagen will add more features like rear sun shades, 360-degree parking camera, reclining rear seat, etc.

Specifications

The T-Cross comes in two petrol options, the same as the Taigun sold in India. Being a facelift, we don’t expect any changes in the internals. So it will continue with the 1.0-litre turbo (113bhp/178Nm) and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine (148bhp/250Nm). Transmission options include a manual and automatic options.

The Taigun will be completing its third year in the Indian market in September 2023. Generally, brands follow a 3-year time frame for facelifts. So, we can expect Taigun to get a facelift by the end of 2024 or 2025. What about the pricing? Pricing-wise, the Taigun facelift could be Rs 50k to 60k more expensive than the current model.
