The Hyundai Creta has become the benchmark in the C-SUV segment. Now, Hyundai is expected to bring the Creta EV by the end of this year. Along with the Creta EV, we are also going to see options like Maruti eVX and Tata Curvv EV. Joining them could be a car from an all-new manufacturer and that is VinFast. Let’s talk about the Vinfast India and the VF e-34 crossover.

VinFast coming

Unlike other manufacturers, Vinfast has shown confidence in the Indian market by straight away setting up a factory in India. In January 2024, VinFast signed a Memorandum of understanding with the government of Tamil Nadu. Now, the brand will start the construction of its factory in February 2024. This factory is expected to have an annual capacity of 1,50,000 units at full capacity. The facility will cater to the Indian market and also will be used as an export hub for South Asian, Middle Eastern and African countries.

Cars it could bring to India

VinFast has several options that it could bring to India. Globally, it has models ranging from a mini hatchback called VF 3 to VF 9 a full-size SUV. In India, VinFast’s first car is expected to be the VF e-34 crossover. Dimension-wise, it measures 4,300mm in length, 1,793mm in width and 1,613mm in height. These dimensions put it squarely against the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti eVX and also the Tata Curvv EV.

Globally, the VF e-34 Crossover comes with a 44.5kWh battery pack paired with a 147bhp motor. It comes with a claimed range of 300km and sits on 18-inch wheels. Globally, the VF e-34 at 30,000 dollars (24 lakhs INR). It could be fair pricing as we expect the upcoming eVX and Hyundai Creta EV to be priced similarly. However, being a new manufacturer VinFast will need to undercut the competition to make a name for itself.
