Kia EV9 Spotted Testing Again – Launching Soon!
For the second time this month, the upcoming Kia SUV has been spotted testing. We are talking about the flagship Kia EV9 which will soon launch in India. The upcoming Kia electric SUV was showcased at GIIAS in 2023 revealing all the details of the EV9. Just like before, this time too the SUV has been spotted without camouflage which reveals the exterior while the interiors are still in suspense.

Kia Electric SUV – New Spy Shots
So although spotted undisguised, the spy shots of the Kia EV9 don’t really reveal new details. We have seen the undisguised test car earlier this month and the details remain the same. However, this time around the SUV has been spotted on muddy roads and not on a smooth tarmac. The EV9 is equipped with AWD and should be a capable off-roader.
Talking about the spy shots, we can see Kia’s signature tiger nose grille upfront which has been closed as EV9 is an electric SUV. The design elements are minimal but are highly complimented by the unique vertical headlamp with the L-shaped LED DRLs. From the side we can see the sheer length of the SUV and aerodynamically designed massive alloy wheels. Even the rear profile has been designed neatly with those vertical LED tail lamps. Other elements include rear spoiler, roof mounted stop lamp, and a bold Kia badging. Now although it isn’t visible in the spy shots, the Kia EV9 comes with a camera for IRVM, tucked below the spoiler.
Interior & Features
Now although we have no spy shots of the interiors, we do have a hint of what they would look like and what features the SUV will offer. It is said that Kia will sell the EV9 via CBU routes and so expect similar equipment that is offered on international models. So just like the global model, the EV9 in India will get a single display panel with touchscreen system on the left, climate control in the centre and digital instrument cluster on the right. It gets an IRVM which also has a display and the camera underneath the spoiler transmits the data on the IRVM to give a clear vision of the rear.
In terms of features the EV9 gets heated and ventilated front seats, 3-zone climate control, ambient lighting, 14 speakers Meridian sound system, head up display, fingerprint authentication system, extendable centre console, built in dashcam, and steering wheel illumination. Also, the SUV gets dual sunroof – one for the first row and second for the rear row passengers.
Kia Electric SUV – Battery Specifications
In the international markets, the EV9 is offered with three powertrain options. It gets a 76.1kWh battery pack with a motor of 214bhp power and a claimed range of 358km. Next, there’s a 99.8kWh battery pack with a motor of 198bhp and a claimed range of 541km. Both these battery packs will be offered in RWD avatars. Finally we have a 100kWh battery pack with an electric motor of whopping 379bhp and a claimed range of 500km. This battery pack has been reserved for the top-spec EV9 which comes with an AWD system.
Expected Launch & Price
Talking about the launch timeline, the Kia EV9 is expected to hit the showrooms by September-October 2024. What about pricing? Being said that the EV9 will be sold as a CBU unit, you can expect it to be priced between Rs 80 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) to Rs 90 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) approximately.
