Thar 5-door vs Thar 3-door

At the front, the Thar 5-door has some major changes compared to the 3-door version. For starters, we can see the LED DRLs in the circular headlamps, new LED turn indicators and a prominent change in the bonnet. From the looks of it, the wheel size is similar on both models. Also, the thar 5-door comes with a sunroof that is missing on the 3-door model. Though this is obvious, the Thar 5-door looks bigger than the 3-door model and the images give us a better perspective of sizes.

Under the hood, the Thar 5-door is expected to share its specifications with the Scorpio-N. So we could see a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine capable of producing 200bhp and 370Nm of torque. Diesel duties could be handled by the 2.2-litre unit capable of producing 172bhp and 370Nm of torque. Both the engines are expected to come with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Thar 5-door vs Thar 3-door – Launch

Thar 5-door vs Thar 3-door

Mahindra has confirmed that it plans to launch the Thar 5-door sometime this year. From the current trends, it looks like the launch could happen in the second half of 2024. What about the pricing? The Thar could start from Rs 18 lakh and go to Rs 23 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
