Maruti unveiled the new Maruti Swift at the Tokyo Mobility Show and has wasted no time in bringing the car to India. The brand has commenced testing of the new Swift in India. Last week, we did the exclusive story of the spotted car. Now the new Swift has been spotted again, revealing a new safety feature. In today’s article, let’s talk about the new Maruti Swift.

New safety feature

New Maruti Swift

As we all know, Maruti has started testing the new Swift in India. We recently covered the spy shots of the new Swift. However, in a new set of spy shots, the new Swift has been spotted with an illuminated marking on the ORVM. This means that we could see a blind spot warning on the new Swift. Currently, no cars in this segment come with this feature and the most affordable option is the Honda City VX variant. While the international spec model does get ADAS, we don’t think ADAS will make its way to India.

New Maruti Swift – What else do we know?

The new Swift is expected to come with a new Z12 engine that will be a 3-cylinder unit. The power figures from this engine are expected to remain the same, but torque output is expected to go up. Also, the new engine is expected to deliver mind-boggling mileage. Suzuki did launch the hybrid Swift in Japan, but it is still unknown if that hybrid setup will come to India. Other features on the new Swift could include a new 9.0-inch infotainment, 6 airbags, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake etc.

Launch timeline

New Maruti Swift

As stated above, Maruti has already commenced the testing of the new Swift in India. The spied car looked production-ready and we could see Maruti launch the new Swift in the first quarter of 2024. What about the pricing? The new Swift could get a price hike of Rs 80k to 1-lakh, depending upon the variants. Currently, the pricing of Swift starts from Rs 7.03 lakh and goes to Rs 10.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
