Mahindra’s most important car coming next year

You must be thinking we are talking about the XUV300 or the Thar 5-door. But, no Mahindra’s most important car launch next year is going to be the XUV.e8. The XUV.e8 will be the brand’s first-born electric vehicle. Considering it is the first, Mahindra will be looking to build on its success and will be leaving no stone unturned to achieve it. So what can you expect as a customer? In today’s article, let’s talk about the 2024 Mahindra XUV.e8.

Design

Earlier this year, the apparent patent design of the XUV.e8 surfaced online. This patented design was very similar to the concept version showcased last year. Overall the silhouette of the XUV.e8 is very similar to the XUV700. Changes include the bonnet-wide DRL design with headlamps cocooned inside them. Being an EV, it comes with a closed-off grille. The production model will get aerodynamic wheels and normal ORVMs. At the rear, the concept had connected tail lamps and we can expect them on the production model too. 

2024 Mahindra XUV.e8 – Interior & features

The test mule of the XUV.e8 had the three-screen display that Mahindra showcased at the Futurescape event. In this layout, we have three 12.3 inches including the digital instrument cluster, infotainment system and a passenger entertainment screen. The test mule also had rectangular AC vents and touch-sensitive HVAC controls. In the centre console, we have a conventional lever for the drive selector. There is also a rotary knob probably for drive modes. Overall the interior of the car looks quite similar to the concept model. Other features could include a HUD with augmented reality, new connected car features, an advanced navigation system, and more.

Specifications

Mahindra is yet to confirm the exact specifications of the XUV.e8. AT the Futurescape event, it showcased the probable specifications for all its Born Electric cars. It revealed three options – a front powertrain with an 80kW motor with 135Nm of torque. The other two are rear powertrains – one with a 210kW with 535Nm of torque and the second is a 170kW motor with 380Nm of torque. Most probably the XUV.e8 will get the 80kW motor. What about the range? We expect the XUV.e8 to offer a range of more than 500km. 

2024 Mahindra XUV.e8 – Launch and pricing

Mahindra has set a tentative launch timeline for XUV.e8 by December 2024. The car has been spotted a fair few times hinting that Mahindra is on track to achieve this timeline. What about the pricing? We could expect the pricing of XUV.e8 to start from Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
