The Kodiaq has been a mainstay in the brand’s SUV lineup. The SUV has been due for an update, and Skoda has been revealing some hints. Now, Skoda has finally unveiled the much-anticipated all-new Kodiaq. So what all is new? In today’s article, let’s talk about the new Skoda Kodiaq.

Design

New Skoda Kodiaq front design

The all-new Kodiaq has matured in comparison to the outgoing model. Dimension-wise, the new Kodiaq has increased in size by 61mm making it 4758mm in length. Other dimensions like height, width and wheelbase remain the same.

New Skoda Kodiaq side profile

Talking about the design, we get the traditional Skoda grille with sharp LED headlamps at the front. The DRL is a tri-arrow pattern that extends into the light housing below it. Below that, we have a reworked lower bumper. The side profile is more or less similar barring the window line which tapers at the C-pillar. Also, we have new alloy wheels. However, the biggest change is at the rear with a connected tail lamp setup. The worded Skoda logo is above the connected tail lamp part. Other highlights of the rear include a roof spoiler and a tweaked bumper design.

The interior of the new Kodiaq get a major upgrade. The main highlight is the new 12.9-inch infotainment system alongside a multilayered dashboard. Then we have circular dials for AC controls which look good and also offer practicality compared to touch-sensitive ones. To make the central tunnel uncluttered, Skoda has moved the positioning of the gear lever behind the steering wheel.

Other features in the interior include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, powered front seats, ventilated & heated front seats, panoramic sunroof and wireless chargers. Safety features include 9 airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist and ABS with EBD. There are also some ADAS features like automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and parking assist.

Specifications

The all-new Skoda Koidaq comes with a plethora of engine and transmission options. First up, we have the 1.5-litre turbo mild-hybrid engine capable of producing 147bhp. It comes with a 7-speed DSG gearbox and only a front-wheel drive option. Next up, we have a 2.0-litre turbo petrol capable of producing 201bhp. This also comes with a 7-speed DSG gearbox but only comes with an all-wheel drive option.

New Skoda Kodiaq plug-in hybrid

Going forward, we have the 2.0-litre diesel engine in two states of tune – 151bhp & 201bhp. Gearbox options include a 7-speed DSG gearbox but come with front-wheel drive & all-wheel drive options. Last up we have the 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid capable of producing 201bhp. This combination comes with a 6-speed gearbox and only a front-wheel drive setup. This plug-in hybrid comes with a 25.7kWh battery pack giving it an electric-only range of 100km. It also supports fast charging capabilities.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but all these are the global specs. In India, we can expect only the 2.0-litre turbo petrol that already powers the current Kodiaq. Should Skoda bring the plug-in hybrid setup to India? Do let us know in the comments.
