First up is the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso as it is the most affordable CNG car available in the country. Designed like an SUV, S-Presso is rather a very small car. It has an upright bonnet and boasts tall-boy car design. Also, it offers impressive cabin space considering the segment.

The talking point however is the amount of headroom it has to offer.
Maruti Suzuki offers CNG option in LXi and VXi trims of the WagonR. Although we will be talking about the affordable, LXi variant. The powertrain is exactly similar to the previous Maruti cars. Interrupting the dominating list of Maruti Suzuki is the Tata Tiago. Tiago was the first step by Tata Motors to reach where they are today. It is a stylish hatchback which is loaded with features and has one of the best interiors. The interiors feel well put together and the overall layout is very functional. Also, it is the only car to score a 4-star rating at Global NCAP in this list and hence the only option if safety is your priority.
Tata Tiago CNG is the most powerful car on the list. It is powered by a 1.2-litre engine that produces 72bhp and 95Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a claimed mileage of 26.4km per kg. Also, thanks to Tata’s twin cylinder technology, Tata Tiago has the most usable boot space while rest CNG cars hardly get some space.
What’s impressive about the Tiago is that Tata Motors is offering CNG option on almost all the variants. Maruti is offering the option of CNG in the VXi variant of Celerio. The specs are the same as previous Maruti cars as they share the same powertrain. It is powered by the 1.0-litre petrol engine that produces 56bhp and 82.1Nm of torque. It comes mated with a 5-speed gearbox. However it offers the most mileage of all the cars we have in the list. The claimed ARAI mileage for Celerio CNG is 34.45 km per kg.
The CNG on Celerio is offered on only one VXi variant. It comes with some decent features like- body-coloured door handles and mirrors, split rear seatback, passenger vanity mirror, power mirrors, all power windows, wheel covers, and idle start/stop. The CNG option of the Celerio is priced at Rs 7.56 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
