It has been 7 odd months since the launch of Hyundai’s second electric SUV, the Ioniq 5. It was globally launched in 2021 but Hyundai took its sweet time to launch the SUV in India in 2023. However, Hyundai now seems to give the Ioniq 5 a mid-cycle update as motor1.com has shared some spy shots of the heavily camouflaged Ioniq 5 testing outside India. What can be changed in the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5? Let’s find out in today’s article.

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 – Spy Shots

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5

The facelift of the Ioniq 5 is expected to receive minimal changes. Talking about the expected changes then Hyundai Ioniq 5 could get redesigned front and rear bumpers. Spy shots have also revealed the relocated parking sensors. To speculate other changes could be a bit early as the camouflage didn’t reveal too many things. The side profile, however, was spotted with similar designed alloy wheels which the outgoing model has.

Will the headlamps and tail lamps get some revisions? So it may or may not as they already look pretty neat and futuristic on the outgoing model.

Expected Launch Date

We can expect the Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift to be launched globally by early 2024 but is expected to launch in India by the end of 2024 or later.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 – As a product

 Hyundai Ioniq 5

Hyundai Ioniq 5 is based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform. It is a ground-up EV platform which also underpins the Kia EV 6. It boasts a modern and futuristic look with some retro touches. Even for the interiors Hyundai has gone for a simplistic approach and that somehow looks impressive.

Features

Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes loaded with features. It gets a massive 12.3-inch touchscreen, 8-speakers Bose Premium Sound System, Memory seat function for all seats, sliding centre console, vision roof, powered tailgate, auto flush door handles, rear window sunshades, and parametric pixel LED headlamps and tail lamps.

Also Hyundai has not compromised on safety as the Ioniq 5 has scored 5-star safety rating in the Euro Ncap. However we expect a similar score from the Indian spec car as it is based on the same platform.

Powertrain

Powering the Ioniq 5 is a single electric motor that produces 214bhp and 350Nm of torque. The motor is paired with a 72.6kWh battery pack and has a claimed range of 631km. The SUV also gets superfast 800V charging which is capable of charging the battery from 10% to 80% in 18 mins. It also gets VTL technology that can help power other electric appliances.

Pricing

Currently the Ioniq 5 is sold in only single variant and it has been priced at 48.73 Lakh on-road Mumbai. Although with the facelift we might witness a hike in its pricing.
