Skoda Superb and Skoda Kodiaq are two luxury offerings from Skoda. The Superb is the brand’s limo-styled sedan, while the Kodiaq is the brand’s only 7-seater luxury SUV. Both Superb and Kodiaq have been in the market for a long time without any major updates yet received. But now Skoda is set to launch fourth gen Skoda Superb and second gen Skoda Kodiaq with a major upgrade in both these vehicles. Skoda has officially revealed interior images of both, Superb and Kodiaq and they look leagues ahead in terms of aesthetics when compared to outgoing models. In this article we will give you detailed information about the interiors of Skoda Superb and Skoda Kodiaq.

Let’s start with the Skoda Superb. For starters the interior layout of both these cars seems identical to each other. However if we look carefully at the images, there are a few differences.

The design of the dashboard has received a major overhaul in terms of design. The entire dashboard has a vertical slat design pattern with corner AC vents nicely integrated inside them.

We can also see wooden trims on the dashboard and the door pads. Also, we can see ambient lights running throughout the dashboard and the door pads. The centre console is now cleaner than ever before. The gear lever is placed on the steering column similar to some Mercedes cars.

New Skoda Kodiaq –

The dashboard layout of the new gen Skoda Kodiaq seems similar to the current gen Kodiaq which has an hourglass design.

However, the piano black elements are now replaced with leather.

Unlike Superb which gets wooden elements, the dashboard and the door pads of the Kodiaq has some gray coloured elements finished in matt.

Also, Skoda Superb and Skoda Kodiaq are said to receive a 12.9-inch touchscreen and 10-inch digital instrument cluster.

Skoda’s Customised Dials –

New Skoda Kodiaq and Superb customised dials

With the new gen Skoda Superb and Skoda Kodiaq, Skoda has introduced smart dials which can be customized by users and allows them to set functions that are most important to them.

The new panel has three knobs with 1.26-inch (32mm) displays on each of them which shows what function the user is controlling. The outer two knobs have controls related to climate control. One can adjust the temperature along with seat heating and ventilation for both the front seats. To access any of these functions, you will just need to long press the knob.

Whereas the centre knob has multiple functions. The default controls are media volume, fan speed and driving modes. However the user can add functions of air direction and map zoom.

The physical buttons that can be seen around these knobs can control front and rear windshield defogger, air circulation and auto mode for the climate control.

Engine Specifications –

Skoda will introduce the next-gen Superb and Kodiaq with five engine options – Two Petrol, Two Diesel and a Plug-in Hybrid. All the powertrain options will be shared among both these cars.

The first is the 1.5-Litre TSI engine that will produce 148 bhp of power.  However, it will be tuned with a 25.7 kWh battery pack which will result in a combined power of 201 bhp. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed DSG transmission.

The same unit will also serve the entry level trims of both cars. However, the engine will be mated to a mild hybrid system and will be paired to a 7-speed DCT transmission.

The other engine option is a 2.0-Litre TSI engine. It will be capable of producing 201 bhp of power and will be mated to 7-speed DCT gearbox. Skoda will also offer Kodiaq with a 4WD system along with this engine option.

Whereas for Superb it is said to receive the same engine with two states of tunes. One is the 201 bhp and the other would be a higher tune of 261 bhp, paired to a 7-speed DCT transmission.

Both will also receive diesel engine options with two states of tune. It will be a 2.0-Litre diesel engine which will produce 148 bhp while the other option will be the same powertrain producing 190 bhp of power. The higher tuned (190 bhp) engine will be mated to a 4WD system. Both the engines will be paired to a 7-speed DCT transmission.

New Skoda Kodiaq and Superb Launch Details –

Skoda will soon launch the new generations of the Kodiaq and Superb in Europe and we expect both these cars to hit the Indian shores in early 2024. Pricing-wise we can expect a major hike considering the new powertrains and features. Once launched, Skoda Kodiaq will continue to rival SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian. Whereas, the Skoda Superb has no direct rival to compete with in India.
