Tata Harrier and Tata Safari are the two flagship SUVs from Tata Motors. Launched back in 2019, Tata Harrier soon became famous for its design and the platform it was based on. Soon a 7-seater version of the Harrier was launched under the iconic nameplate, the Safari. However, these SUVs lacked in terms of features and Tata Motors continued to introduce new sets of features with every special edition they launched. The last we saw was the Red Dark edition and with that Tata Motors equipped the SUVs with bigger touchscreen and ADAS. However, now the launch of the Harrier/Safari facelift is just around the corner. So let’s find out what we know about the Harrier facelift.

New Tata HarrierDesign

Talking about the design, both the SUVs are expected to receive a major update. From the spy shots we have seen so far, the design changes seem pretty similar to the Harrier EV that was showcased in Auto Expo 2023. So we can expect a very close relation between the Harrier EV and Harrier Facelift.

At the front we can expect eyebrow style DRLs which could possibly get connected treatment. Below are the main headlamp units which are completely redesigned along with redesigned front bumpers. The grille is now more upright compared to the current model.

Coming to the side, we do not expect any major changes apart from the alloy wheels design which might get a different design treatment. At the rear, again the tail lamps could possibly get connected treatment along with some minor revisions to them. Even the rear bumper could be redesigned as seen on the Harrier EV in auto expo and the housing for the reflectors could also be different.

Interiors & Features

The Harrier EV at the Auto Expo 2023 was showcased with the same interior layout as the outgoing model. However, some spy shots (spotted by Rushlane) of the test mules have revealed a revised dashboard layout with a bigger, possibly 12 inch touchscreen at the centre. What was completely different was the steering wheel. The test mule was spotted with a 4-spoke steering with a display panel at the centre and the overall steering wheel was resembling the one we saw in Tata Sierra EV at the auto expo 2023.

In terms of features, both Harrier and Safari are equipped with a long list of features and are at par with the competitors. Still there are few features that are expected to make their way in these two SUVs. A 12-inch infotainment system, digital instrument cluster with updated graphics, rotary-styled gear knob, 360-degree camera, voice assisted sunroof, ventilated seats and LED headlamps are some of the expected features.

Engine & Transmission

The Harrier facelift will continue to get the same 2.0-litre (168bhp and 350Nm) diesel engine. The facelifted models could miss out on the 1.5-litre TGDI engine which Tata showcased in the Auto Expo 2023. This engine will debut on the Curvv and will then make its way onto the Harrier and Safari. This means the Harrier and Safari petrol could be launched in the second half of 2024 or early 2025.

New Tata Harrier – Launch & Price

Regarding the launch we do not have an exact date as of now but there are high possibilities that the Harrier facelift could be launched by the end of 2023. Also, with such heavy updates the prices will witness a hike from the outgoing models. We can expect the starting price of the new Harrier to start from Rs 19.50 lakh and going to Rs 31.00 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
