Mahindra Thar 5-door to get a new front design!
The Mahindra Thar has set a marker in the lifestyle SUV segment. However, the Thar in its current avatar is not suitable for family outings. To solve this exact problem, Mahindra is working on the Thar 5-door. This 5-door version has been spotted several times, and now new spy shots reveal a new front design. In today’s article, let’s talk about Thar 5-door design.
New design
In this new set of spy shots, we can see a new front design on the Thar 5-door. This test mule comes with LED projector headlamps, a major upgrade from the halogen ones offered on the three-door version. The grille is also six slates divided by two vertical lines. Other new things include some protection to avoid clogging the radiator unit.
What new things to expect?
The Thar 5-door is confirmed to be based on the modified ladder-on-frame chassis like the Scorpio-N. Specification-wise, the Thar 5-door could share its engine options with the Scorpio-N. So we can expect a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine (200bhp/370Nm) and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine (172bhp/370Nm). Both engines are expected to come with manual and automatic gearbox options.
In terms of features, We could see a new centre armrest, a bigger infotainment system and more storage spaces. Mahindra could also tweak the upholstery to increase the premium quotient of the SUV.
Thar 5-door design – Launch timeline
Mahindra has time & time again stated that it doesn’t plan to launch Thar 5-door this year. It plans to launch the Thar 5-door sometime in 2024. Seeing Mahindra’s track record, it could launch the 5-door SUV on the 26th of January or the 15th of August. What about the pricing? The Thar 5-door could start from Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
