Tata Punch Electric spotted at a charging station
Tata caught all other manufacturers in India napping with its EV onslaught. Earlier everyone would say EVs are the future, but Tata changed the notion to EVs are the present. To continue on this mantra, Tata is going to launch another mass-market EV in the form of Punch EV. Now new spy shots have confirmed some more details of the Punch EV. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Tata Punch Electric.
Spy shots
The spy shots were posted by b.choww on his Instagram handle. In this, we can see a Punch with a charger attached to its front grille. All other Tata cars come with side-mounted charging sockets, so this is unique. Other than that, there are no visible changes on the Exterior.
Tata Punch Electric – What else to expect?
The Punch EV should continue with the Alfa-Arc platform. We don’t expect any major exterior changes barring some new colours and EV badging. In the interior, several new features could be expected. In earlier spy shots, a rotary gearbox and an electric parking brake have been spotted. Other expected features include an air purifier and wireless charging.
Specifications
The Punch EV will come with Tata’s famed Ziptron technology. We expect it to share its specifications with the Tigor EV. This means we could see a 26kWh battery pack paired with a 73bhp motor that produces 170Nm of torque. This battery pack comes with a claimed range of 315km on the Tigor. On the Punch EV, we can expect similar figures and a real-world range in the range of 200km to 250km.
Tata Punch Electric – Launch timeline
Tata has confirmed that it plans to launch four new EVs in the next 5 to 6 months. One of the EVs in this list is indeed the Punch EV. The Punch EV is expected to be launched by the end of this year or early next year. Pricing-wise, the Punch EV could be slotted between the Tigor EV and Nexon EV Prime in the brand’s EV portfolio.
