Jeep compact SUV in the works – All details!
The C-SUV segment is one of the most fiercely competed places in the country. Almost every manufacturer has an SUV here or is at least planning to bring one. Surprisingly, Jeep, a manufacturer known for SUVs doesn’t have a C-SUV in India. We said India, as globally Jeep has the Avenger. The Avenger is around 4m and would slot in the compact SUV segment. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Jeep Compact SUV.
Design
The Jeep Avenger is 4080mm in length, 1780mm in width & 1530mm in height. It remains to be seen if Jeep chops this out for the sub-4m benefits or extends it to take on the Creta, Seltos etc. Talking about the design, the Avenger Jeep has successfully integrated its traditional design with modern elements. At the front, we have a new grille with smoked headlamps. Side profile looks like a smaller version of the Compass. The rear again has the smoked tail lamps.
Jeep compact SUV – Specifications
In Europe, the Avenger comes in ICE and EV variant options. The ICE option comes with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine capable of producing 100bhp. This engine also does the duties in the C3 sold here. What about the EV powertrain? The EV version comes with a 54kWh battery pack paired with a 154bhp motor that produces 260Nm of torque. Range-wise, it comes with a claimed range of 400km.
Features
If Jeep is planning to bring the Avenger to India, it will need to load it with features. The Avenger will need features like a big infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats etc. Jeep will also need to improve the fit and finish to attract customers. Also, ADAS is becoming a norm in this segment and Jeep will need to offer it on the Avenger.

There have been rumours of Jeep bringing the Avenger to India. Some industry chatter at the GIIAS has hinted that Jeep is working on bringing the Avenger to India. When can we expect it? There is no fixed timeline and we could see the Avenger in the next couple of years.
