Rs 9 lakh Honda SUV coming next?
Honda recently wrapped up the media drives of the Elevate. The Elevate is Honda’s first proper crack at the SUV segment. Honda is certainly hoping that Elevate increases its sales. But Honda knows it will need a plethora of new SUVs to survive in the market. Its next SUV could come in the compact SUV segment taking on the likes of Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue etc. So what can we expect? In today’s article, let’s talk about this Rs 9 lakh Honda SUV.
Design
The Honda WR-V is based on the updated version of the PF2 platform. This platform also underpins Amaze in India. Design-wise, the WR-V comes with a design similar to the Elevate. It gets an aggressive front design and LED headlamps. The side profile again looks like a mix of cars similar to the Elevate. What about the rear? The rear comes with comma-shaped rear tail lamps.
Rs 9 lakh Honda – Specifications
The India spec WR-V should come with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol that powers the Amaze. This engine is capable of producing 88bhp and 110Nm of torque. It is less compared to the competition, but Honda will need to make it work. Transmission options include a manual and CVT gearbox. Honda can’t use the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated option due to tax constraints.
Features
Honda has shown that it is not going to go crazy with features in the Elevate. We can expect the same on the WR-V, and it could miss out on fancy features. We could see 9.0-inch infotainment, 6-speakers, automatic AC, semi-digital instrument cluster etc. Safety-wise, we could see 6-airbags, ABS + EBD, vehicle stability control and more. Honda could also offer Honda sensing, considering several cars in this segment are expected to get ADAS in the upcoming time.
Rs 9 lakh Honda – Price and launch
Currently, Honda is yet to reveal the pricing of the Elevate. It is expected to do that soon and then focus on working on the WR-V for the Indian market. The brand has also stated its plans to launch one new SUV every year, and a compact SUV should fit right into this plan. What about the pricing? We can expect a starting price in the range of Rs 9 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
