Kia has clearly focused on SUVs in the Indian market. It makes sense considering SUVs are on the rise in the country. However, globally, Kia has a wide array of cars in different segments. It even has a Verna rival that also got a major refresh. It recently launched the new K3 sedan in Mexico. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Hyundai Verna rival.

Dimensions

Dimension-wise, the K3 is 4,545mm in length, 1,765mm in width & 1,475mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2,600mm. These dimensions are almost identical to the new Verna and if launched could rival the Verna, Skoda Slavia, Honda City and Volkswagen Virtus.

Design

Kia K3 side

The K3 comes with a bold design like most Kia cars. At the front, we have the brand’s ‘Tiger nose grille’ that extends into the sharp headlamp design. The DRLs form an inverted L-shaped design similar to the EV9. The side profile is pretty clean with no cuts and creases. At the rear, we have Volvo-like tail lamps. Overall the K3 is quite a handsome-looking car.

Hyundai Verna rival – Specifications

In Mexico, the K3 comes with a 1.6-litre engine that is capable of producing 121bhp. This engine comes with a manual or automatic gearbox option. Kia has also launched the GT-line which comes with a 2.0-litre engine capable of producing 149bhp. This engine only comes with an automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

Features

Hyundai Verna rivals - K3 interior

The K3 comes with an interior design very similar to the Hyundai Verna. In the centre, we have a 10.25-inch infotainment system that links with the digital instrument cluster. Overall the dashboard is quite clean and minimalistic. Other features include dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, rear AC vents, ADAS and 6-airbags.

Hyundai Verna rival – Will it come to India?

As stated above, Kia currently only plans to launch SUVs and MUVs in India. So it doesn’t look like Kia will be bringing the K3 here. However, it will be interesting to see the K3 compete with Verna, Slavia, Virtus and City. For India,  Kia is focusing on bringing the updated Sonet, new-gen Carnival and EV9.
