Royal Enfield is on an offensive bike launch spree. It is working on several new bikes for the Indian market. It recently launched the Super Meteor 650 and is rumoured to bring several new bikes based on this engine. One such bike is the Scrambler 650 and exclusive spy shots of the bike testing in India. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650.

Spy shots

Jumping straight into the spy shots, we have a big engine block similar to what we see on the Interceptor. This indicates that this is a 650cc bike. However, the engine has two pipes that integrate into one exhaust pipe. So this is a major hint that this is a Scrambler-style bike. We can spot an all-LED setups (headlamps/tail lamps), and the instrument cluster seems to be a fully digital unit. The bike comes with higher ground clearance, probably for off-roading. Surprisingly, this test mule doesn’t come with the sump guard you expect on a Scrambler. The front wheel seems to be 19 inches, and the rear wheel seems to be 18-inches.

In comparison to the Interceptor, Royal Enfield seems to have modified the tank design. Another extra over the Interceptor seems to be the suspension travel. Being a Scrambler, it should come with more off-road-focused tyres. Also, we seem to have a number plate holder behind the riders leg. There are changes on the handlebar setup, new footpegs and fender. Also, these test mules have circular tail lamps identical to the Super Meteor 650.

Specifications

The Scrambler 650 will be powered by the 648cc parallel twin, air/oil-cooled engine. This is the same engine that also powers the Continental GT 650, Interceptor 650 and Super Meteor 650. Power figures could also remain the same at 47.65PS and 52Nm. It should come with a 6-speed gearbox.
