Tata Punch to get this thing to take on the Exter
The Tata Punch has finally got a worthy competitor. Last week, Hyundai launched the Exter and has given a lot of new stuff on the Exter. The Exter comes with more features and also a CNG option for mileage-conscious buyers. The Punch currently misses out on a CNG option, but we know Tata is ready with the Punch CNG. So when is it launching the Punch CNG? In today’s article, let’s talk about Tata Punch CNG in 2023.
CNG
Tata has hit a jackpot with its twin-cylinder technology. It has solved the major weakness of CNG cars freeing up boot space. The Altroz i-CNG gets a boot space of 210 litres which is great for a CNG car. Now soon we will see the Punch get this twin-cylinder CNG tech. This will help Punch go against the Exter and triumph over it, at least in the CNG aspect.
Tata Punch CNG 2023 – What changes?
The overall silhouette of the Punch i-CNG remains similar to the normal Punch. We don’t expect any changes barring some i-CNG badging. Tata maybe could give a CNG-specific colour on the Punch i-CNG. In the interiors, we again don’t expect any changes. The Punch i-CNG will continue with existing features like 7.0-inch infotainment, semi-digital instrument cluster, dual airbags, ABS with EBD etc.
Specifications
The Punch i-CNG continues to be based on the Alfa-Arc platform. Engine-specs wise, it continues with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol. In its petrol guise, this engine is capable of producing 84bhp and 113Nm of torque. In CNG mode it shouldn’t lose much of its performance. The Punch CNG will only come with a manual gearbox option.
Tata Punch CNG 2023 – Launch timeline
Earlier this year, Tata launched the Altroz i-CNG, and now it seems to be the turn of Punch. With the Exter getting CNG, Tata could soon bring in the Punch i-CNG. We think Tata could launch the Punch CNG in the next couple of months. What about the pricing? The Punch i-CNG could be at least Rs 70k to 80k more expensive than the similar iCE variants.
