Indian Mercedes G-Wagon clone spotted testing!
G-Wagon holds a certain flare not only in India but all around the world. Even before the SUV boom in India, the G-Wagon had its fan following and still does. But for most of us, buying it is a dream that will never materialise. But Force has us covered. You may ask how? It is working on the Gurkha 5-door, which is in no way comparable to the G-Wagon but does have an eerie resemblance to it. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Force Gurkha 2023.
New spy shots
The new spy video was posted on the Instagram handle of khatushyam_darbar_official. Force has been testing the Gurkha 5-door for some time now and so it is easy to guess this is the same SUV. The car is heavily camouflaged, but we can see bigger alloy wheels on the 5-door. The side profile looks massive, resembling the G-Wagon. At the front, we have square-shaped headlamps and a grille divided into two parts.
Specifications
The five-door Gurkha is expected to be based on the C-platform that also underpins the three-door Gurkha. Engine-wise, it comes with a Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre diesel engine, at least you can brag about some Mercedes DNA in the Gurkha 5-door. This engine is capable of producing 91bhp and 250Nm of torque. Force should look to tune the engine better, as this engine feels underpowered even on the three-door version. The five-door will continue with the five-speed gearbox.
Force Gurkha 2023 – Launch timeline
Force has been testing the Gurkha 5-door for some time and it was expected to be launched by early 2023. However, Force seems to have postponed that plan. Now we think Force could launch the Gurkha 5-door by the end of this year or early next year. Once launched, the Gurkha 5-door will majorly rival the Mahindra Thar 5-door and to some extent, the Maruti Jimny 5-door.
