The full-size SUV segment is dominated by the Toyota Fortuner. Even with constant price hikes, the Fortuner continues to rake in 3k sales per month. Such type of sales numbers are mind boggling for a Rs 50 lakh car. We need a worthy competitor against the Fortuner to stop its free run. So can anyone show this fight? One upcoming car that could do that is the Nissan X-Trail. In today’s article, let’s talk about X-Trail 2023.

Design

X-trail 2023

Last year, Nissan showcased the 4th generation X-Trail in India. This 4th generation model comes with a modern but classic SUV design. At the front, we have a Magnite-like grille with the Nissan logo in the middle. Then we have eyebrow-like DRLs and headlamps placed below them. In the side profile, we can see the humongous dimensions of the X-Trail. The X-trail shown in India was the 5-seater model, but Nissan will be bringing the 7-seater model to the country.

X-trail 2023 – Interior & features

X-trail 2023

In its global product lineup, the X-Trail is Nissan’s flagship product, and so it comes loaded with features. It comes with soft-touch materials at all the important touch points. The X-Trail comes with features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, electronic parking brake, auto hold, driving modes, ADAS, panoramic sunroof etc. With these features, it could easily blow the Fortuner out of water in this aspect.

Specifications

Now let’s talk about the engine specifications of the X-Trail. The X-Trail comes with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine paired with various hybrid options. The first is a mild-hybrid setup that produces 188bhp and 250Nm of torque. Next up is a ‘2WD’ setup that makes 201bhp and 330Nm of torque.

X-trail 2023 – India launch

X-trail 2023

Nissan has confirmed that it plans to launch the X-trail in India. Though not regularly, the car is spotted testing in India. However, the brand hasn’t given a fixed launch timeline for the X-trail launch in India. What about the pricing? Nissan is yet to confirm if the X-Trail will come through the CBU or CKD route. But if Nissan wants to compete with the Fortuner, it will have to price the X-Trail somewhere around Rs 45 lakh to Rs 50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
