Maruti as a manufacturer, has been on the offensive in the last one and a half years. It has updated almost all of its cars and has launched some new ones like the Grand Vitara and Fronx. But in all these, where is its first EV model? Earlier this year, Maruti revealed its electric concept, the eVX, at the Auto Expo 2023. Now a new launch timeline for the eVX has been revealed. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Maruti eVX launch.

At the Auto Expo, Maruti revealed that it plans to launch the eVX sometime in 2025. But it seems like Maruti has decided to prepone the launch. Recently the production-spec of the eVX was spotted testing in Poland, hinting that the development is on the right track. Now according to Autocar India, Suzuki plans to unveil the production version globally by October 2024. India launch could happen by the end of 2024 or early 2025.

The design of this model is an updated look at the Futuro concept revealed at Auto Expo 2020. The front look of the car is typically EV with a closed grille. Surrounding the grille, it gets C-shaped DRLs, and as we move below, the sharp cuts and creases of the concept are seen. Moving to the sides, the concept model, which is codenamed as ‘YY8’, gets a tall stance with SUVish looks. Recently the eVX production version was spotted testing in Poland, and it did seem quite identical to the concept.

What about the pricing? Pricing is hard to guess, but we can expect a starting price somewhere around Rs 17 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the eVX will take on the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV.
