Volkswagen has finally found some momentum in the Indian market. Still, its sales are not what the brand had hoped for, but VW can build from this. It needs to bring new cars and SUVs to stamp its authority. Volkswagen has plans to bring an EV, but the 7-seater segment is more mouth-watering. Volkswagen knows this and is working on a new 7-seater SUV that it plans to bring to India. This SUV could be called the Tayron. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Volkswagen 7-seater.

Design & platform

The Tayron is technically a car that will replace the Tiguan All-space. Currently, Volkswagen sells the first-generation Tayron in China. Now, Volkswagen is bringing its new-gen that will be a global product. Unlike the Tiguan all-space, the Tayron will be a proper 7-seater but will come in 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. The Tayron will be based on the modified version of the MQB platform that underpins the next-gen Passat and Tiguan.

Specifications

Globally, the Volkswagen is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both these engines will come with a mild hybrid setup and a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The European brand is also going to offer plug-in hybrid options with the Tayron. Sadly, in India, the Tayron could come with only the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine similar to the Skoda Kodiaq.

Volkswagen 7-seater – Launch

According to reports, Volkswagen plans to bring the Tayron to the Indian shores. Still, the earliest possible launch year of the Tayron is only 2025. According to reports, it could happen in the first half of 2025. In India, the Tayron will come through the CKD route. This should make it a better-priced car than the Tiguan all-space, which came through the CBU route.
