MG is still kind of establishing itself in the Indian market. MG’s journey has been rocked due to its Chinese roots. Still, the brand is hopeful that it can turn the tide with a fresh flow of investment. Recently it launched the Comet EV, and it could also bring an SUV version of this compact car. MG’s sister brand Baojun has already unveiled this car in China, and it will head to the Indian market under MG branding. In today’s article, let’s talk about the MG Comet SUV.

Dimensions & Design

Now let’s talk about the design; the Yep gets a boxy design with a closed grille at the front. We have a stylish DRL design with four cutouts and a small bonnet. In the side profile, we only have two doors and a large window glass area. At the rear, we have 0-shaped tail lamps and side opening tailgate.

This battery pack is powered by a 66bhp motor, and its top speed is 100kph. With a normal charger, the Yep takes around 8.5 hours to charge from 0% to 80%. The Yep also comes with DC fast charging, which is missing on the Comet EV.

Interior & features

The interiors of the Yep are somewhat similar to the Comet. We have the same dashboard layout with two 10.25-inch screens greeting your vision. A glaring change is the three-spoke steering wheel replaces the two-spoke steering wheel of the Comet. Other features include a 360-degree camera, electrically adjustable seats, a rearview camera and heated front seats.

MG Comet SUV – Launch timeline

The Baojun Yep is almost certain to come as a rebranded MG car to India. Currently, MG is working on heavily localising the Comet, and this will also help the Yep if it comes to India. In India, MG will name it something else. According to media reports, MG will only bring the Yep to India once it sorts out the investment plans.
