MG recently unveiled its Kei car in the Indian market which would pioneer its very own category. This new small EV has caught a lot of attention due to its unique styling and dimensions. However, today we will talk about another new EV which the British-Chinese manufacturer plans to bring to India. We are talking about a new MG EV which can go against the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Which is this MG Ioniq 5 rival? Read below.

We are talking about the MG 4 EV which is sold by the parent company of MG. The SAIC brand sells this vehicle in the European markets against established German products like VW ID.3 and the Kia Niro EV from South Korea. Talking about this MG, measures 4,287mm in length, 1,836mm in width, and 1,506mm in height and sits on a  wheelbase of 2,705mm. The dimensions appear in line with the ZS from the brand but this one tends toward a hatchback look. Though it gets a blacked-out running board and rear skid plate which prowesses its crossover design.

The interiors of the MG 4 are minimal with a no-nonsense look. The dashboard layout carries a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a couple of buttons below it. Moving further down, we have the rotary-styled unique gear lever and heated front seat controller. The interiors are quite feature-packed with a 360-degree parking camera, ADAS, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and many more.

The MG 4 gets two battery pack options – 51kWh and 64kWh that make the power of 170bhp and 203bhp respectively. Talking about their range, the claimed figure is 350kms for the smaller one and 452 for the bigger 65kWh. This EV is only available with a rear-wheel drive setup missing out on the AWD variant. Charging options range from a 7 kW AC fast charging and also the 150 kW DC charger which charges from 10% to 80% in around 40mins.

There are no official details about the launch of this EV. The car was on display at the Auto Expo 2023 to monitor the response of the car but yet we don’t see any official statements from the brand. What about pricing? The pricing could range from Rs 35 to 40 lakh depending on the variant you buy.
