Maruti’s best selling car to get a major upgrade
Maruti as a brand needs no introduction in the Indian market. Everyone in the country at some point in time has sitten in a Maruti car. It has an iron hold over the sub-Rs 10 lakh category. One such car in this segment is the Swift. The Swift sits in an interesting place in the Maruti lineup between its entry-level hatchbacks and premium hatchbacks. The sales of the Swift speak for themselves, with 17,346 units sold in May 2023. Nevertheless, Maruti is working on the new-gen Swift. In today’s article, let’s talk about new Maruti Swift 2024.
What to expect?
The new Swift has been spotted several times testing Europe. From the looks of it, the Swift is going to get a major design overhaul. At the front, we could see a new grille design extending into the headlamp and fog lamp cutout. Suzuki has placed the DRLs in the fog lamp cutout. The side profile could see some with a door-mounted handle, rather than the current C-pillar-mounted one. The rear could get squarish taillamps.
New Swift 2024 – What else do we know?
According to reports, the new Swift will be based on the slightly tweaked Heartect platform. Hopefully, this improves the safety of the car. In the interior, we can expect better-quality plastic giving it a premium look. In terms of features, we could see a 9.0-inch infotainment system, heads-up display, wireless charging, etc.
Expected specifications
The new Swift could become the most fuel-efficient car in the country. The new Swift is almost confirmed to come with a strong hybrid setup similar to the Grand Vitara. This hybrid setup will be paired with the 1.2-litre DualJet engine. Currently, the Grand Vitara has a claimed mileage of 27.97kmpl, which is great for a C-SUV. So with the smaller dimensions, the Swift could get a claimed mileage of 40kmpl. This type of mileage is unheard of in India and will attract people to the new Swift.
New Swift 2024 – Launch timeline
The new generation has been spotted numerous times testing in Europe. According to some Japanese publications, the new Swift could be launched in Europe just before the winter kicks in. What about India? The new Swift is yet to be spotted in India, but considering the popularity of Swift in the country, we can expect the launch soon after. Maruti could launch the Swift sometime in 2024.
