The Maruti Vitara Brezza has been a popular compact SUV in the Indian market since its launch in 2016. With its spacious interiors, good fuel efficiency, and competitive pricing, it has been a favourite among car buyers. However, with increasing competition and changing consumer preferences, Maruti Suzuki last year gave the Brezza a major update. Now Maruti could be looking to make the Brezza even better. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Maruti Brezza turbo engine.

What could change?

Currently, the Maruti Brezza comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine. This engine offers decent enough power and is also quite reliable. However, in the world of turbo petrol engines, this engine feels quite out of place. For a long time, Maruti didn’t have any turbo petrol in its lineup. But with the launch of Fronx, Maruti has the 1.0-litre BoosterJet back in its ranks. According to some rumours, this engine could be offered on the Brezza. Not only will it give the Brezza turbo option, but it will also help Maruti save taxes on the engine size (1.0-litre vs 1.5-litre). Maruti will have to bump its power figures from the current 98bhp to something around the 110bhp mark. Interestingly, this engine produces 107bhp in international markets.

Currently, Maruti is studying the feasibility of offering this engine on its other cars. It will be studying the trends on the FronX before bringing this engine to other Maruti cars. But considering the advantages we expect Maruti to offer this engine as soon as possible on the Brezza.
