MG is still a budding manufacturer in the Indian market. It has some impressive products like the Astor and Hector. Now MG is also bringing the Comet EV, which will be quite a unique product in the country. After the Comet, MG is going to try out something even more audacious. What is this? It will be an SUV based on the Comet EV. In today’s article, let’s talk about this NEW MG SUV.

Design

MG SUV

MG is heavily localizing the Comet EV, and so it will want to get more of this investment by bringing more cars based on this platform. So MG is planning to bring an SUV based on the Comet hatchback. It will be based on the same GSEV platform. To give it a more proportionate look, the SUV will be a little bit longer than the Comet hatchback. Like the Comet, it will also come with a three-door layout. Overall the design could be similar to the car MG’s sister brand Baojun unveiled in 2022. This car featured bigger tyres and more ground clearance.

Specifications

The upcoming Comet EV is expected to come with a 17.3kWh battery pack paired with a 40bhp motor. So we expect the same on the Comet SUV. However, the Baojun concept had a dual-motor setup producing around 100bhp and also an all-wheel drive setup. Could this come to India? It could be an expensive proposition, still, only time will tell.

MG SUV – Expected price and launch

MG SUV

MG is currently gearing up to launch the Comet EV. As for the Comet SUV, the brand plans to launch it by 2025. Till then, MG will be looking to localize all the battery tech to keep the prices low. Still, it will be priced more than the Comet EV, which is expected around the Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh mark (ex-showroom). The Comet being so unique will have no rivals in India.
