The current scenario of the automotive market is shaping towards a greener future by adopting alternative fuel options. We now have the electric wave taking over traditional fuel options like petrol and diesel. The merits of hybrid vehicles have also lured a major chunk of the market as they offer the best of both worlds. Therefore, many brands are now moving towards pure petrol and hybrid cars by ditching diesel motors off the grid. In today’s article, we will talk about the carmakers that only sell petrol cars!

Petrol cars India – Maruti

India’s largest carmaker has completely eradicated its diesel powertrains for the likes of powerful and efficient petrol engines. It was the first mass-market manufacturer to take this step. Though some models, had the majority of the sales from diesel mill, they still went ahead and opted for pure petrol engines. Moreover, now it also has the pocket-friendly CNG bi-fuel option available on its select models which makes it even more attractive for buyers.

Petrol cars India – Honda

The new BS6 Phase 2 norms have had an immense impact on the manufacturers. The increasing costs to make the diesel motors compliant with the norms are not turning out fruitful for the manufacturers. Thus, another brand has decided to leave the diesel tale behind. This year Honda announced the eradication of its diesel engines. Most likely, we could see more of strong hybrid models from this brand in India.

Nissan

Nissan was on the tip of the iceberg until the Magnite came in as a striking product from the brand. This Japanese automaker also joins the list due to its sole petrol availability. Its Magnite which is available in two petrol engine options has a void CNG option. Diesel is not on the list for any car but we would be seeing strong hybrid powertrains in future. Its X-Trail is going to rival the ever-popular Fortuner to be the first strong hybrid model.

Renault

Renault India which has the Nissan brand under the Renault Groupe is also a petrol-only manufacturer. Even the engine options which we see in their Kiger and Magnite are exactly the same. Therefore, both these brands have bid adieu to the diesel engine and we don’t think that there might be a possibility of the same. What we could see are new EVs and strong hybrid models in the upcoming years.

Petrol cars India – Volkswagen AG

For India, the whole VW groupe has dropped the diesel mill. What we now see are turbo-stratified petrol engines that offer decent mileage without hampering performance. Therefore, all cars from Skoda, VW and Audi don’t offer diesel engines in any of their models in India. Though they continue to sell diesel in global countries not now in India.
