The sedan segment is in the doldrums in the country. People are preferring to buy SUVs or hatchbacks over them. In this craze sedans like the Ciaz have suffered a lot. In February, Maruti sold only 792 units which is abysmal for any car and more so for a Maruti product. But still, should you buy a Maruti Ciaz in 2023? In today’s article, let’s find out.

Design

Maruti Ciaz 2023

Maruti hasn’t tinkered much with the design of the Ciaz. As a product, the Ciaz last got an update in 2018. Still, it’s fair to say the Ciaz doesn’t look that outdated. It still has that sleek and minimalistic design. The side and rear profile continue the overall classy look. Maybe the Ciaz is not as flashy as the Virtus or Slavia, but it holds its charm in the design aspect.

Interior & features

We said the exterior doesn’t feel outdated, but the interiors feel out of place in today’s day and age. We have a dual tone dashboard layout with a centre-mounted infotainment system. The cabin feels airy due to the beige interiors. But still, this doesn’t make up for the lack of features in the Ciaz. The Ciaz lacks features like a big infotainment system, sunroof, wireless charging etc.

Maruti Ciaz 2023 – Specifications

Maruti Ciaz 2023

The Maruti Ciaz comes with the K15B petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Though the engine is reliable and efficient. It is heavily underpowered in comparison to the competition. Competition cars are coming with 1.5-litre turbo petrol, and the Ciaz is stuck with this old engine. The 4-speed automatic shouldn’t come on any modern cars in this day and age.

Pricing

The pricing of the Ciaz starts from Rs 10.63 lakh and goes to Rs 14.68 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This is one aspect that goes in the favour of Ciaz as it undercuts all its competitors by a big margin.

Maruti Ciaz 2023 – Should you buy it?

Now, this is a tricky question to answer. The Ciaz only has the Maruti reliability factor going in its favour compared to the competition. Another factor is comfort, so the Ciaz is a good choice if you are looking for a chauffeur-driven option. Other than that, the Ciaz simply lacks a lot of things that are needed in a car in 2023.
