The market is witnessing a surge in the number of SUVs as buyers are going left right and centre buying them. The SUVs characteristics are beloved by the masses making it the most lucrative category. So, India’s largest carmaker is also sparing no costs by bringing in more and more SUVs. Recently, it showcased the Jimny which has become the talk of the town but there’s more in Maruti’s stable. Rs 8 lakh SUV – Design
We are talking about the Maruti Fronx which has formulated a segment of its own. The car manages to attract eyeballs with flared wheel haunches, heavy body cladding, a large grille, coupe-like roofline contributing to its SUV presence. Sharing its design cues from the Grand Vitara, the Fronx measures 3,995mm in length, 1,765mm in width & 1,550mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2,520mm and has a boot space of 308 litres.
Features
The interiors of the Fronx take adaptations from the Baleno. The layout is identical to the latter but the equipment list is mounted. The Fronx offers features like a 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, heads-up display, six airbags, ARKAMYS Surround Sense, and a 360-degree camera. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS + EBD, ESC etc.
Rs 8 lakh SUV – Specifications
The Maruti Fronx is available with two engine options. It gets a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated mill producing 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5MT or an AMT gearbox. There’s another petrol mill but this one is a 1.0-litre turbocharged unit producing 99bhp and 148Nm of torque. You can get this engine with a 5MT or a 6-speed torque converter gearbox. Moreover, the Fronx CNG is also spied testing which could mean that we shall be getting CNG bi-fuel option as well. The CNG addition would be paired to the 1.2-litre petrol mill and the gearbox option could be limited to 5MT only.
