After its rigorous testing on the Indian grounds, Maruti finally unveiled its ‘Fronx’ at the Auto Expo 2023. Majorly focused on attracting the youth, the Fronx has a distinctive styling. It gets a bold stance with muscular wheel arches and SUVish body lining. It does appear to be an SUV rather than a crossover. Talking about the design, the car is imposing from every angle. It looks muscular with its bulky wheel arches, coupe-like roofline, and boats the ‘NEXwave’ grille which is inspired by the Grand Vitara.

Nissan Magnite is the highest-selling car from the brand. It stands on the dimensions of 3,994mm in length, 1,758mm in width & 1,572 mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2,500mm and has a ground clearance of 205mm. The overall styling of the car is also on the bulky side with sharp-looking headlamps, evident body cladding, and more.

If we talk about the features of the Maruti, the Fronx does stand strong with plenty of them. It gets a 9.0-inch floating infotainment system, heads-up display, six airbags, ARKAMYS Surround Sense, 360-degree camera, wireless charging and many more. The Nissan Magnite also doesn’t fail to impress with its loaded tech. This Japanese SUV gets a 9.0-inch infotainment system, Digital MID, cruise control, LED headlamps, rear AC vents, a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, JBL speakers, and puddle lamps. Talking about safety, it gets front airbags, ABS, and EBD as standard. Magnite also gets more safety features like ESP, TPMS, ABS, EBD & hill start assist in its higher trims.

Maruti is offering the Fronx with two engine options. You have the ubiquitous 1.2-litre petrol engine making 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. This engine can be either paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. Another option is for buyers who are looking for a peppy ride. The Fronx gets the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine option that makes 97bhp and 147Nm of torque. You can opt for this mill with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter AT.

Talking about the Magnite, it also comes with two engine options. First is the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. However, it is only available with a 5-speed manual. This is not it because it does have a powerful engine option too. This mill which makes 98bhp and 160Nm of torque is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol unit. This engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox. 

Pricing

The pricing of the Maruti is not yet revealed but the bookings have already begun. The car has already gathered more than 1,500 bookings within a couple of days. There are chances that the pricing could start from Rs 7 to 8 lakhs. Then, if we talk about the Magnite, it starts from Rs 7.29lakh (on-road, Mumbai) and ends at Rs 12.78lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the top-end model.

Though the pricing of the Fronx is not yet revealed but we can expect it to start from the aforementioned number. The Magnite is already a spacious car but if we compare it to the Fronx, it is smaller. So, if you want a spacious cabin, the Fronx could be your car of choice. However, if you want to go in the compact SUV segment, the Magnite gives a considerate value for money-proposition. It gets a powerful engine, better boot space, higher ground clearance and more.
