Last year we saw a huge announcement from our homegrown automaker. This event unveiled the plan for Mahindra’s new ‘Born Electric’ lineup. These cars which will be built on a ground-up EV platform will pioneer new limits for the homegrown automaker. Apart from this it also shared details about its INGLO platform which is set to underpin all its future EVs. In today’s article, we will discuss Mahindra’s electric SUV plan.
Mahindra electric SUV – New INGLO platform
The brand has aimed high for its new electric platform. The name ‘ INGLO’ stands for ‘IN’ Indian at heart and ‘GLO’ global in its reach will imbibe class-leading software as well as hardware in it. We are talking about progressive battery technologies, over-the-air updates, edge-to-edge screens, new augmented reality heads up and many new-age features. Other than this, we expect high safety ratings, high-tech performance and exemplary driving dynamics. Moreover, it is also one of the lightest skateboard platforms with two different cell architectures – Blade and Prismatic. Drive options will include rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive setups.
The first one to get uncovered is the Mahindra e.8. This is essentially a mid-size electric SUV highly similar to the XUV700. It measures 4740mm in length, 1900mm in width & 1760mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2762mm. Talking about the car, Mahindra is likely to offer best-in-class ride quality and enhanced safety. The powertrain of the car could be an all-wheel drive setup to cater for its off-road performance. No official details are out regarding its battery pack but we expect details like large touchscreen infotainment systems, Mahindra electric-specific copper design elements and more. The launch of the car is slated for the end of 2024.
Mahindra electric SUV – XUV e.9
The XUV.e9 measures 4790mm in length, 1905mm in width & 1690mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2775mm and appears as a sporty SUV from every angle. If we talk about its design, it looks futuristic and its sporty appearance is accentuated by the tapering roofline. The side profile looks clean and has a void of any cuts and creases. The wheel haunches look muscular giving the car a muscular look. Overall this car looks sporty and exciting. How could the actual production model look? Let us know in the comments.
Mahindra electric SUV – Born Electric Range
Mahindra has planned 3 new EVs in the Born Electric range. Firstly, we have the most compact one with a length of 4,307mm and coupe styling. According to the brand, the BE.05 is likely to enter into the sporty coupe SUV segment with spirited performance. It could be launched around October 2025. Now, let’s move on to the slightly bigger one which is the BE.07. The overall design of the car inclines toward more of a boxy design. This one looks muscular and straight, unlike the others which boast a coupe shape. Finally, let’s talk about the BE.09 based on the INGLO platform. Wee details are available on this model so we can expect it to be superlative than all. As the name suggests, the BE.09 would offer a first-class experience to all of its four passengers.
