This year Maruti has launched SUVs like the updated Brezza and Grand Vitara. The Grand Vitara is quite a competent product with long list of features and a strong hybrid setup. Grand Vitara rivals – Kia Seltos
The Grand Vitara comes loaded with features. However, the Grand Vitara is not the most feature-loaded car in this segment. That crown belongs to the Kia Seltos. The Kia Seltos gets extra features like a power-adjustable driver’s seat, rear sun shades, blindspot monitor and front parking sensors. So if features are a priority then you should consider the Kia Seltos over the Grand Vitara.
Skoda Kushaq/VW Taigun
The Grand Vitara is yet to be tested by GNCAP, but it is based on the Global C platform that had scored four stars for the Brezza. The Grand Vitara is expected to retain this rating. However, the Kushaq and Taigun are five-star rated cars from GNCAP with the latest protocols. So both these cars offer better safety than the Grand Vitara.
Grand Vitara rivals – MG Astor
The MG Astor is quite an underrated car in this segment. Feature-wise it comes loaded with features like a 360-degree camera, a 10.1-inch infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof and even ADAS. If you need performance, you have the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. Safety-wise, it shares its platform with the ZS EV that comes with a 5-star Euro NCAP rating. This makes it a good package against the Grand Vitara.
But wait! The Grand Vitara has its perks too!
Even though the cars mentioned above have their strong points, the Grand Vitara has its own strong points. The Grand Vitara banks on its hybrid technology and AWD technology, which is unique for this segment. Performance & efficiency can go hand-in-hand in the strong hybrid variants if driven mindfully. Also, the Grand Vitara has Maruti’s strong service network and reliability, giving its buyers that extra assurance. So either way, the Grand Vitara is not a bad car at this price point either.
