Mahindra has left no stone unturned while developing the XUV700. The fruit of Mahindra’s labour is a fully loaded SUV with almost everything that a customer needs. It has got powerful engine options, a big list of features and also flourishes in the safety aspect. But, there’s one more such car that is likely to unwrap in the upcoming year. It is also from a homegrown manufacturer which makes the Nexon. Which is this new Tata car? Let’s talk about Tata’s upcoming XUV700 rival.

The Safari is the flagship product from Tata Motors’ portfolio. The current generation model is a decent package but as the sales chart depicts, it has been fiercely competed by the XUV700. So, Tata is bringing a new facelift update to the Safari which could help the car to stay in line with the XUV700. Let’s know more about the upcoming car.

The overall silhouette of the car would be maintained with a bold and aggressive design. The flared wheel arches, chunky tyres, and wide body frame has always been Safari’s language and the same would be maintained in the new model. The facelift update will likely get us a new set of bumpers, a tweaked headlamp design, updated alloy wheels and minor design changes in the car.

The feature list was a significant drawback for Safari when compared to the XUV700. So, to maintain what the competition has to offer, Tata is likely to add more to today’s feature-dominated car market. The Safari facelift is expected to get a larger infotainment system, 360-degree camera setup, ambient lighting, an all-digital instrument cluster and more.

As it’s a midlife facelift update, no changes could be expected under the hood. The Safari would continue to be powered by the 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options would also remain the same with the 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AT. There are talks about the introduction of a turbo petrol mill too but it’s still on the fence.
