We are almost at the end of 2022 wherein we saw the launches of some significant cars. The sales figures also hit a remarkable number this time and here we are in the last few days waiting for 2023. The upcoming year is loaded with some exciting cars as well which could create havoc in the market. One such car is the upcoming Maruti Jimny which is likely to be a game changer with its 5-seater layout. In today’s article, we would be covering the specifications and launch details of the new Maruti Jimny.

Maruti has planned to unwrap the Jimny 5-door at the Auto Expo 2023. So, sit back and wait for the new lifestyle off-roader from Maruti. It’s not even a month’s waiting time now and we are also as excited as you are. If we talk about its rivals, it would be locking its horns against the Force Gurkha 5-door and the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door.

Maruti Jimny launch – Specifications

Maruti would be bringing the 5-door iteration of the Jimny to India. The extended 5-door version has got a 300mm increase in its wheelbase from the 3-door model. What could this mean? Our Indian spec is pinned to be more practical and roomy than the shorter car. So, to propel the Jimny 5-door, Maruti has to power this one with a capable engine.

If we talk about the specifications, Maruti has taken up the old road for its lifestyle offroader. Why do we say this? Maruti is likely to bolt the previous K15B engine in the Jimny. This engine was previously available in Maruti cars like the Ertiga, XL6, etc before they got updated with the K15C. The K15C is overall a better mill with its dual jet tech, rocker-less camshafts and more. Then, why an older engine in the Jimny? The actual reason is not yet defined but as the ‘made-in-India’ 3-door Jimny (export model) gets this mill, it looks like the brand wants to continue with the same.

What more to expect?

The K15B and K15C are not poles apart from each other. The latter is just a step above in terms of technology and gets better efficiency. As far as the power figures are concerned, the K15B makes 103bhp and 138Nm of torque, which is higher than the K15C. If we move on to the transmission, it would get the 5-speed manual and a 4-speed AT gearbox. Moreover, if you plan to go off the road, you would be assisted by the ‘All-Grip-Pro’ 4WD tech for swaying mud all the way around.
