Unique Mahindra XUV700 rival coming to India?
Mahindra XUV700 has lit it’s segment on fire. It has become the ‘Da Man’ so to speak of its category due to the package it offers. Talk about features or powerful engine options, it has got all the bang for your hard-earned buck. However, looking at the success of this car, other manufacturers are gearing up to launch their own XUV700 rival, and today we will talk about one. Let’s talk about Renault’s new coupe SUV that could be a potential XUV700 rival!
Renault XUV700 rival – Renault Arkana
The French automaker has been spotted testing the Arkana on Indian grounds. This coupe SUV is Renault’s answer to the bandwagon of coupe SUVs in India. The latest trend of coupe SUVs has been riding high with the launches of various SUVs like the Tata Nexon, Harrier, BMW X4, and more. Though these cars don’t lie in the Arkana category but we see what’s Renault target point is with this car. Moreover, Renault is likely to bring this car in India via the CBU route so the prices could be on the premium side.
Renault XUV700 rival – Design
The Arkana looks unmistakably an SUV. It gets flared fenders with a tapering roofline and bold front fascia. The overall design has a sporty essence along with some adaptions from the Captur. Other sporty elements include sporty dual exhausts, larger diamond-cut wheels, and a sleek headlamp design.
Features
If it has to rival the XUV700 then it must come with a plethora of features. We can’t say that the Arkana is not loaded. This car is on sale in European markets where features are considered valid upfront. Therefore, the Indian version of the Arkana could continue to get all the bells and whistles. It is likely to get features like a 9.3-inch infotainment system, blind-spot warning, a fully digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera and a Bose sound system.
Renault XUV700 rival – Specifications
The CMF-B platform is what underpins Arkana. This architecture has also been used in the Captur which was on sale in India. Talking about the engine options of the Arkana, it gets two petrol engines. One option is the 1.3-litre turbo petrol mild hybrid mill producing 138bhp, the other is a 1.6-litre-strong hybrid with two electric motors and unique clutch-less dogbox transmission.
Launch and Pricing
The recent spottings of the car is a hints towards possible Indian launch in future. If launched in India, this car could be slated against the XUV700. There is a high chance that Renault could be bringing this car in the next 2 years. However, nothing is concrete yet. What about pricing? Reports suggest that it is likely to take the CBU route to India which could reflect in its premium pricing. Could it then compete with the XUV700 or the segment above with the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and Volkswagen Tiguan? We will have to wait and find out.
