Tata Tiago EV has created havoc in the affordable EV segment. Buyers are jostling around the car due to its feature-rich equipment list, tried and tested Ziptron battery tech and its affordable pricing. As the Tiago EV sits at the apex in this category, it is seen enjoying the monopoly. However, it could soon change as the launch of Citroen C3 EV is expected soon. To know when it could launch, read below.

Citroen C3 EV -Launch Timeline

According to reports, Stellantis Group officials have spoken up a word regarding the C3 EV. They stated that India could soon witness the launch of the car in early 2023. There are high chances that Citroen might unveil it at the Auto Expo 2023 and then we could expect a launch right after it.

What to expect in the Citroen C3 EV?

Citroen C3 EV

The first-ever EV from the French automaker is not a ground-up car. It is essentially an EV iteration of the entry-level hatch -C3. The platform, exterior and interior elements are also shared with the ICE car further some up its similarities. What could this mean? As it is sharing the majority of the elements from the ICE car, it could help Citroen at keeping the costs down. As per the brand, positioning this new EV at an aggressive price point is a priority.

Battery and range

Citroen has to excel on the range front to lure more buyers from the Tiago EV. This all has to be done by keeping the costs down. So, Citroen is expected to plant a 30.2 kWh battery with claimed range better than the Tiago EV(315 km with a battery pack of 24 kWh). Moreover, Citroen would also enable CCS2 fast charging, thanks to its LFP battery cells sourced from a Chinese firm. It could channel the power of 83bhp and 143Nm of torque to the front axle, making it a decent proposition in terms of performance. If the French automaker stays true to this plan, it could drive more buyers towards it.

Citroen C3 EV – Features

As features have become the top selling point in a car, Citroen has to bring a loaded list. In comparison, the Tiago EV does offer a healthy list on its side. So, what could Citroen do? It may add some creature features which are missing on the ICE C3. It could get automatic AC, wireless charging, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and more. Furthermore, we can see some exterior design elements specific to the electric variant. The EV could also house the charging port on its front fenders alongwith some or the other EV badging.
