However, now other manufacturers have also started focusing on SUVs. One such manufacturer is Maruti, which was never known for its SUVs. Maruti is planning several SUVs that could hit the Mahindra. Maruti plans to upgrade its image from an affordable car manufacturer to a premium SUV manufacturer. We have seen this with the unveiling of the Grand Vitara. Baleno Cross
The Baleno Cross will be quite a unique product in the market. As a product, the Baleno Cross is a beefed up version of the Baleno hatchback. However, it will be a coupe SUV with a tapering roofline. It could be the cheapest coupe-SUV in our market. Overall it could get more features than the Baleno. What about its launch? Maruti could unveil the car at the Auto Expo of 2023, and the launch could happen a few months after the unveiling.
Jimny
As we all know, Maruti is developing a 5-door Jimny to increase the practicality aspect. This 5-door Jimny has been spotted testing in India revealing its design. Overall the car’s design is quite similar to the 3-door Jimny. What about features? The Jimny 5-door could get several new features to take on the competition. Engine-wise, it could come with a 1.4-litre turbo petrol or a 1.5-litre turbo petrol. It could come with 4×2 and 4×4 options. The Jimny will be the perfect competitor to the 3-door Thar.
Maruti’s plan- Innova
Yes, Maruti will be launching the rebadged version of the Innova HyCross. Like other such cars, Maruti’s iteration could get a slightly different design. Other than that, we could see new interior colours. What about engine specifications? Engine-specifications wise, it could come with a 2.0-litre pure petrol and a 2.0-litre strong hybrid petrol engine. This Maruti Innova could be the perfect competitor to Mahindra’s XUV700. How is this possible? As we know, the new Innova HyCross will be quite modern and also come with features like a panoramic sunroof, ADAS etc.
