Mahindra is killing it with its new SUV lineup. The key to this success has been Mahindra’s proactiveness in bringing the right products at the right time. So what can Mahindra do next? Mahindra could bring a coupe-SUV to fill the gap in its lineup. Mahindra has showcased it in the past, and it could be already working on this SUV. This SUV is none other than the XUV900, and it could be the fastest ICE SUV in Mahindra’s lineup. In today’s article, let’s talk about the fastest Mahindra petrol SUV.
Design
Mahindra showcased the Aero concept at the Auto Expo of 2026. However, that was a long time ago, and we expect the XUV900 to be a completely different product. We think the XUV900 could take design inspiration from the XUV700. So we could expect c-shaped DRLs with an aggressive grille. Being a coupe-SUV, we can expect sporty bumpers and side skirts. Another major change will be in the side profile due to the tapering roofline. Mahindra could also give it a spoiler to enhance the look.
Fastest Mahindra SUV – Specifications
The XUV900 will be based on the same platform as the XUV700 and could share most of its mechanicals with the same. So we could see the tried and tested 2.2-litre diesel engine and the 2.0-litre turbo petrol on the XUV900. Mahindra could retune the engine to produce more power to go with the sporty coupe dynamics. This is the reason why we think it could be the fastest ICE SUV in Mahindra’s lineup. Mahindra might also retune the suspension for sportier dynamics. Transmission options will include manual and automatic gearbox options.
Features
Of late, Mahindra has started loading its car with a lot of features. We have seen that on the XUV700, Scorpio-N and even the Thar. The XUV900 could get the same treatment. It could get features like a panoramic sunroof, AdrenoX, a big infotainment system, dual-zone climate control etc. What could it get extra? It could get ambient lighting, HUD, auto-dimming IRVM etc to enhance the premium quotient.
Fastest Mahindra SUV- Launch and pricing
Mahindra has ambitious plans in the SUV segment. In August, it revealed its ‘Born Electric cars’, with the first launching in 2024. Mahindra could look to slot the XUV900 before the ‘Born Electric Cars’. So we could expect the XUV900 sometime in 2024 or early 2025. What about the pricing? Mahindra could look to price the car quite aggressively around Rs 20 to Rs 25 lakh mark (ex-showroom).
