The Toyota Fortuner doesn’t need a separate introduction in the Indian market. With the discontinuation of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota is enjoying a monopoly in this segment. The Fortuner as a product is known for its massic road presence and reliability. However, the Fortuner is often criticised for its low features. This could soon change as Toyota is working on the new-generation Fortuner. The new Fortuner could even get one of the favourite features in the Indian market. So what could this be? In today’s article, let’s talk about the new features of the Toyota Fortuner.

New Toyota Fortuner – What is this feature?

New Toyota Fortuner features

Have you guessed which feature we are talking about? Yes, we are talking about the sunroof. Traditionally, Toyota has shied away from sunroofs in its car. However, the new Innova HyCross is set to get a sunroof and we could expect the new Fortuner to also get a panoramic sunroof as well. Currently, the MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian offer a panoramic sunroof in this segment.

Other new things

The sunroof will not be the only feature addition in the new Fortuner. Other than that, we could expect a new infotainment system with wireless phone connectivity. Also, the Fortuner might get a new instrument cluster and 360-degree camera setup. Can we expect ADAS? Yes, we could see Toyota Safety Sense on the new Fortuner, considering Innova HyCross is expected to get Toyota Safety Sense too.

The next-generation Fortuner will be based on the new TNGA-F platform. Why a new platform? This platform will help Toyota accommodate the 2.8-litre diesel hybrid engine. What! A hybrid engine? Yes. Toyota is working on giving the new Fortuner a mild-hybrid setup. In this setup, the Fortuner will come with an alternator which will assist the car during standstill acceleration and power the car at lower RPMs. This assistance will improve the fuel-efficiency and reduce emissions, something Toyota has been focusing on lately.

Launch and pricing

According to reports, Toyota has plans to launch the new Fortuner in 2023. Toyota will first be launching the new Fortuner in Thailand followed by other Southeast Asian markets. When can we expect the India launch? India launch could happen sometime in 2024. What about the pricing? We don’t expect a price drop, but rather a price bump due to the new features and hybrid setup.

  • I drive in hilly areas with a lot of winding roads and this is the reason my family members who are sitting in the back are always complaining of motion sickness no matter how much I try to control my driving..if I have to choose between Scorpio, Alacazar, Compass, Creta and Fortuner, which one would you recommend?..passengers in the front and rear should feel comfortable, good interiors, excellent features, minimal body roll or no body roll at all, powerful engine therefore excellent pick up. Thank you
