Honda is finding it tough to survive in the Indian market. Honda’s problem stems from the fact it has no proper SUV in its lineup. Honda knows this weakness and is working on it. It is working on a compact SUV that could take on the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, etc. We have covered this SUV in detail, but now a new render has revealed the design of this SUV. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Honda compact SUV design.

Honda has already unveiled the silhouette of this car at the GIIAS (GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show). Based on this silhouette and the earlier spy shot, Andra Febrian Design, an Instagram page, has made a render of what the compact SUV could look like in real life. At the front, we have a grille with a lot of chrome. Also, we have LED headlamps with a DRL strip in the middle. The side profile is clean with minimal curves and creases.

The rear looks typical Honda with simple blocky tail lamps. Faux skid plate at the rear does give this car a sporty, upmarket appeal.

This render clearly resembles the earlier spy shots that we have already covered in detail.

What else do we know?

There is a lot of confusion concerning the platform of this SUV. Some reports have indicated it could use the Amaze platform, while some reports state it could get the Jazz platform. The Jazz platform would make more sense for the brand in terms of parts sharing. What about the engine specifications? The obvious choices are the current 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. There are rumours that Honda could discontinue the 1.5-litre diesel engine due to the upcoming emission norms. Also, there are reports that Honda is working on a new 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine for this SUV. This will be an ideal engine for this compact SUV.
