We all are aware about EVs and their future in environment-friendly transportation. Now, the world is adopting the change from ICE to EVs in terms of personal mobility and Tesla holds a big hand in bringing that transition. We don’t need an introduction to Tesla and are familiar with its class-leading EVs. So, let’s cut to the chase and tell you why such advanced Tesla cars are really DANGEROUS for India.

Why Teslas are dangerous for India?

Tesla cars dangerous for Indian roads

Tesla cars are pure battery-powered vehicles that come equipped with a lot of tech and gizmos. We get many features and even games in the car that can keep the driving experience fun and engaging. Although all such nifty tech can blow one’s mind, but the dangerous one can also prove to be risky. Which is this feature? Tesla bets high on ‘Enhanced Autopilot’ autonomous driving tech and uses radar sensors & cameras to achieve self-driving to some scale.

This is a very useful feature to have in a car for people who want reduced driver engagement. However, it has a big flaw that it would need to overcome if it has to make its way to India. The company has curated and developed self-driving tech suitable for North American markets. However, this tech could not clearly identify two-wheelers. As Indian roads are jostled with two-wheelers almost all over India, Tesla’s autopilot is a very dangerous feature to have.

If it is ever to be used in Indian cities, this could not clearly identify bikes leading to bashing the biker or even creating fatalities. This could be the imminent reason why Tesla cars can prove to be a major threat on Indian roads. Looking at the Indian traffic and city driving patterns, this autopilot tech would mostly prove to be absolutely useless and could be only used on proper highways.

Tesla’s India expansion is back in the news. Reportedly, Tesla has opened up a discussion with the Indian government for an investment proposal. Tesla is proposing to set up a factory in India with an annual capacity of 5 lakh cars. The government is positive that Tesla will able to manufacture locally and also do exports. If everything goes smoothly then we could soon see Tesla cars in India.
