Toyota is testing the new-generation Innova, which will be a hybrid MPV and will mostly be called the ‘Innova HyCross’. It would be an all-new hybrid car with a monocoque chassis setup, letting go of the current Innova’s ladder-on-frame platform. Unlike the current selling Innova Crysta, it would be a front-wheel drive vehicle. Moreover, it is also confirmed that no diesel engine would be made available. It is likely to get a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to strong hybrid setup.

This new car is said to be sold along with the Innova Crysta, so the regular Innova Crysta will still be available for buying. However, the new Hycross would be the bigger car in the Innova lineup. It would sit on a 2860mm long wheelbase, 100mm more than the ongoing Crysta. This increase in the wheelbase would result in a more spacious cabin. By adopting heavy localization, Toyota would try to keep the prices in check. We can expect it to be priced between Rs 25 lakh to Rs 33 lakh (on-road). When could it launch? Toyota would unveil this car in November 2022, with a proper launch set to happen next year.

Toyota Fortuner is ready to receive its next-generation avatar. It would be a completely new car with changes in powertrain and overall styling. The most important change will be its new TNGA-F platform, seen on other Toyota SUVs like the Land Cruiser, Tundra, etc. The change in platform would result in the update in styling. The biggest benefit of switching to this platform is the accessibility to use hybrid technology. Toyota plans to mate mild hybrid technology with the 2.8-litre diesel engine. This addition would increase the SUV’s fuel-efficiency & performance figures.
