Tata Motors is known to take risks in the recent years. It has also already established a strong name in future mobility with it’s EV line-up. With its Nexon EV, it has become the largest EV seller in the country. It has the Nexon EV, Tigor EV, and the Tiago EV to dominate the electric segment. Moreover, there’s also one more car that could enter a new EV segment and attract more buyers to the EV spree. Which is this new Rs 14 lakh Tata hatchback? Let’s know more.

The Tata Altroz is a successful product in the premium hatchback segment. It is based on the same ALFA-ARC platform that is renowned for safety. The Altroz gets a 5-star safety rating which makes it the safest car in its segment. Talking about its platform, it is used on the Punch micro-SUV and also EV ready. So, it is highly likely that Tata could bring the Altroz EV in the coming time.

Design & features

Tata is known to spice up its EV range with some unique elements. The most prominent is the blue inserts on the Tata electric cars we have recently seen. We have already seen the Altroz EV when it was shown at the Geneva Motor Show. And the green hue it was showcased with looked really good. On the inside, Teal Blue inserts are largely expected with the rotary-style gear knob. As Altroz is known as the gold standard of its segment, the regular Altroz is quite a specced-up car. We could see similar features like the 90-degree door opening, smartphone connectivity, iRA-connected car tech, and more.

While there is currently nothing concrete from the brand regarding the actual battery pack to be used with the Altroz EV, we expect it to get a bigger batter pack than the smaller 26kWh battery pack that we see in Tigor. There are also chances that the new Altroz EV could get a similar powertrain setup as the Nexon Prime. As the Altroz EV would be the premium hatchback, it is highly likely to come with the bigger 30kWh battery. Power figures are expected to be at 127bhp and it could extract a better range than Nexon Prime, thanks to its lower weight and smaller dimensions.

Price & Launch

Tata has been the early bird in the EV category. It has managed to cater to the needs by launching EVs in the most lucrative segments of the country. Currently, the unavailability of an EV in the hatchback segment has made Tata bring the Tiago EV. What about Altroz EV? Tata has always showcased the Altroz EV in auto shows. It also has the thrive to launch EVs in almost every car segment. So, it is highly likely that the car could be seen in the near future.
