Next Citroen car to be a major threat to Maruti?

Citroen is still in the nascent stages in our market. In over 12 months, Citroen has launched two cars, and that too in two opposite price spectrums. The C5 Aircross caters to the premium segment buyers, while the C3 caters to mass-market buyers. However, Citroen knows that it has to bring in more focused products to truly establish itself in the market. So what is Citroen’s plan? It has already confirmed its plans to bring an EV and a 7-seater family car. We have covered the EV in detail but nothing much was available regarding this 7-seater till now. However, new spy shots of the next ICE car have surfaced online. These spy shots clearly reflect that Maruti could be in danger. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Citroen 7-seater car.

The spy shots were posted on ‘The Car Show’ YouTube. It is easy to figure out this is a Citroen car due to the quirky front & rear design. From the spy shots, this seems to be the C3 Aircross. So what is the C3 Aircross? The C3 Aircross is a beefed-up version of the C3 hatchback with more of an SUV-like design. Coming back to the spy shots, we can spot the third row of seats with adjustable headrests. Also, C3 Aircross does look quite proportionate in front of the Kia Seltos. Muscular fenders are visible hiding behind the heavy camouflage. It doesn’t look like an MPV, but more of a 7-seater SUV. Overall the car seems a lot more muscular than the C3 and sports bigger tyres than the C3. 

What else to expect?

According to rumours, the C3 Aircross will be better equipped than the C3. It could get a better interior and some more features than the C3. What features can we expect? Auto-dimming IRVM, reversing camera, electrically adjustable ORVMs, alloy wheels, and automatic climate controls are some of the expected features. What about the engines? It could get the same engine options as the C3. So, it could get the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Citroen 7-seater car – Launch timeline

As mentioned above, Citroen is going aggressive in the Indian market. Last week, it launched the C5 Aircross facelift. According to sources, Citroen is planning to launch its affordable EV early next year. After that, we can expect Citroen to launch the C3 Aircross. Considering all this, the timeline could fall somewhere around the end of 2023.
