Mahindra has upped its game in the SUV segment. Recently, it wrapped up the launch of the Scorpio-N and after that it has also launched the XUV400. The Scorpio and Bolero nameplate has been fundamental in establishing the Mahindra brand in all corner’s of India. With the Scorpio updated, what about the Bolero? As a product, the Bolero has not been updated much since its launch. However, considering Mahindra’s push for updating their lineup, the new Bolero could be the next big thing from Mahindra. As mentioned above, the Bolero is an important product in Mahindra’s lineup. It continues to rake in sales in the rural areas, but Mahindra could give it a major update. With this update, the Bolero is expected to make more upmarket, similar to what Mahindra did with the Scorpio-N. Like the Scorpio-N, the new Bolero could be based on the modified version of the ladder-on-frame chassis. This platform has done wonders on the Scorpio-N and it could do the same on the Bolero. This platform will give the new Bolero better dynamics and stability.
What else to expect?
Mahindra will have to update the exterior of the New Bolero. However, Mahindra will try to retain the boxy characteristics of the current Bolero. It could get a 7-slated grille like the Scorpio-N. What about the interiors? Mahindra is taking big strides in the interior department, and we could see the same in the new Bolero. Mahindra could use a better interior layout and upholstery. With the new platform, we can also expect better safety and handling from the new Bolero.
Expected specifications
Predicting the engine specifications of the new Bolero is a bit tricky. The most feasible option is the 1.5-litre diesel engine that powers the Bolero Neo. However, Mahindra being Mahindra can plonk the 2.2-litre diesel engine in the new Bolero. It could give it the power tuning of the Thar. What about the petrol engine? It is highly unlikely since the Bolero has always been a workhorse in Mahindra’s lineup.

Earlier Mahindra had confirmed that it will be launching the new Bolero sometime between 2023 and 2026. 2023 looks a bit far-fetched considering we haven’t seen the new Bolero in testing yet. The new Generation could see a launch sometime in 2024, which will be a mega launch like the Scorpio-N. What about pricing? Considering Mahindra’s recent launches, the new Bolero will come with competitive pricing.
