The SUV craze has firmly gripped the Indian market, and from the looks of it, it is expected to stay for the foreseeable future. Recently, Maruti acknowledged that it wants to have SUVs in every segment. Maruti is even bringing a special SUV which will create a new segment. So what is this SUV? We are referring to the YTB. New spy shots of the YTB have surfaced online. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Rs 9 lakh Maruti SUV which has been spotted today. Let’s go.
What was spied upon?
The spy shots were posted on the Youtube channel ‘Exploring Wheels’. The car is covered in heavy camouflage, but it is easy to figure out this is Maruti’s coupe SUV, taking a look at the rear profile. Overall, the proportions look quite similar to the Baleno, however, this one seems raised, clearly giving it an ample ground clearance. This will definitely be practical and at the same time, enhance the SUV look. We also get a slight sneak peek into the interior, spotting the floating infotainment touchscreen system.
What else do we know?
The YTB essentially is a beefed-up version of the Baleno. According to reports, the YTB is the production version of the Futuro-e-concept Maruti unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020. What else do we know? The earlier spy shots have shown that it could get eyebrow DRLs and a big grille like the Grand Vitara. Maruti YTB will sit in a sweet spot where it won’t have any direct rival.
Rs 9 lakh Maruti SUV – Specifications
The YTB will come based on Maruti’s Heartect platform. What about the engine options? Being a coupe SUV, the YTB is also expected to get a fun-to-drive engine. According to media reports, it could get the 1.0-litre Booster Jet engine capable of producing 100bhp & 150Nm of torque. This engine used to power the now-discontinued Baleno RS. Will it get a mild hybrid setup? Considering Maruti’s push for hybrid tech and fuel-efficiency, we can expect a mild-hybrid setup on the YTB as well.
Features
Features have become a vital part of the car buying experience in India. Sensing this change, Maruti has started loading its cars with modern features. So what all features can we expect on the YTB? It could get features like a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a premium sound system, 360-degree camera and heads-up display. Could wireless charging and sunroof be on offer, given the fact it will sit over the Baleno? Only time will tell, but we expect these features to be on offer.
Rs 9 lakh Maruti SUV – Launch timeline
Maruti has been quite tight-lipped about any details regarding the YTB. Still of late, the car has been spotted several times hinting that it is in the final stages of development. According to media reports, Maruti could unveil the YTB at the Auto Expo of 2023. What about the launch? The launch may happen a few months after the unveiling. The YTB will sit above the Baleno and will be sold through Maruti’s Nexa dealerships.
