The Innova is a car that has enjoyed a stronghold in the MPV segment not just in India but in some foreign countries as well. It is a volume seller in Toyota’s lineup along with the Fortuner. The major reason behind its popularity is the comfort on offer and the brand’s reliability. Of late, the Innova is facing some competition from the newer 7-seater cars. To tackle this, Toyota is working on a new-generation Innova. This new Innova could be called the Innova HyCross in India. Now, we have obtained some renders of the Innova HyCross which give a glimpse into what the Innova could actually look like. In today’s article, let’s talk about the looks of Toyota Innova HyCross.
New renders
The Innova Hycross has been spotted numerous times testing in India and outside India. Now using these spy shots, Andra Febrian Design, an Instagram page, has made a render of what the Innova HyCross could look like. At the front, we get to see sleek-looking headlamps similar to the Fortuner. Then we have a trapezoidal grille divided by a chrome strip housing the Toyota logo. Coming to the side profile, we have an MPV-like stance which is resembles the current-generation car. The rear could get squared of taillamps.

What else can we expect?
According to rumours, the new Innova will be based on Toyota’s TNGA platform. This means that the new Innova will be based on a monocoque platform rather than its traditional ladder-on-frame architecture. What will be its consequences? The new Innova is expected to get lighter and more agile. Also, it is touted to be shorter than the current Innova but compensate that with a bigger wheelbase.
New Toyota Innova HyCross – Engine options
Most of the Innova buyers buy the diesel engine due to its torque nature and the fuel-efficiency. But surprisingly, Toyota is touted to discontinue the diesel engine with the Innova HyCross. Toyota is replacing the diesel engine with a hybrid option. This hybrid system will be paired with a 2.0-litre petrol engine. Toyota is making this change keeping in mind the upcoming emission norms around the world. Toyota’s new hybrid system will mostly be efficient, but can it compete with the diesel engine? We will have to wait for that.

So when will Toyota launch the Innova HyCross? The new Innova seems to be in the final stages of development considering the spy shots. According to reports, Toyota could launch the Innova HyCross before Diwali this year. A Diwali launch could be the perfect time to attract new buyers. What about pricing? We expect it to be priced on par with the Innova Crysta.
