Citroen to rival Tata Nexon after Punch?
Citroen is the latest manufacturer to make its entry in the Indian market. It has had a subdued entry compared to other new manufacturers like Kia or MG, but Citroen is trying to change this. It recently launched the C3 hatchback in India. The C3 is a hatchback with SUV characteristics. So what could Citroen launch next? It could launch the SUV version of the C3 called the C3 Aircross. The C3 Aircross will take on cars like the Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue. In today’s article, we will talk about the Citroen Nexon rival.

Citroen Nexon rival – Details
The C3 Aircross has been spotted earlier too, but it seems to be different from the earlier car. So is Citroen making a different car for the Indian market? Yes, it seems like the C3 Aircross is just a beefed-up version of the C3. There are spy shots available online which clearly show that the tail lamp of the spied car is quite similar to that of the C3 hatchback. Also, the side profile is quite similar to the C3 barring the longer dimensions. The spotted car comes with steel wheels with no caps, hinting that this could be the base variant of the car.
Specifications
The C3 Aircross could come with the same engine options as the C3. So it could come with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine capable of producing 80bhp & 115Nm of torque. The other engine will be the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine capable of producing 108bhp & 190Nm of torque. Could Citroen retune these engines? We will have to wait for that. However, according to some reports, Citroen is already working on an updated 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which will focus on fitting the emission norms bill.
Transmission options include a manual and automatic transmission. According to the same report, the brand is set to bring in a six-speed torque converter gearbox for the C3. We expect the same unit to be extended for the Nexon rival as well. We expect Citroen to pay a lot of attention on driving dynamics and cabin comfort, something that we saw with the C3 as well.
Citroen Nexon rival – Features
The C3 is a let-down for tech-savvy buyers as it missed out on several important features. Citroen could look to improve that with the C3 Aircross. It could get features like automatic climate control, 6-speakers, steering mounted controls, a 10.2-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay and voice recognition. Missing elements like wireless charging, automatic AC, cruise control, etc. could be added to the Tata Nexon rival.
When will it come to India?
There is no official confirmation from Citroen regarding the C3 Aircross, but with the recent spottings, there are high chances of this SUV being in the pipeline. It also makes sense for Citroen to launch the C3 Aircross in India. Why? The compact SUV segment is one of the fastest growing segments in India, and Citroen will definitely want to be a part of it. What about pricing? Citroen will have to price it competitively, seeing the competition in this segment.
